Loyalist factions withdraw support for Good Friday Agreement over Brexit customs deal - BBC News

A group representing the main loyalist factions in Northern Ireland has said the creation of an EU customs border in the Brexit deal is undermining the union with Britain. It says that as a result it has withdrawn support for the Good Friday Peace Agreement.

The Belfast Agreement brought to an end a conflict that claimed over three and a half thousand lives.

The loyalist move comes as the row intensifies over the impact of the Brexit trading rules in Northern Ireland. Tensions have also been growing over a wider push for a referendum on Irish unity by Sinn Fein, the main nationalist party.

Sophie Raworth presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Fergal Keane, who has been gauging reaction amongst Unionists to the impact of the Brexit deal.
